Fake Friends
Directed and Edited by Hannah Lindvall, Produced by Jay Towns
FAKE FRIENDS is Jay Towns' release in which he combines the contemporary hip-hop stylings of artists like Drake and Travis Scott. With a track spearheaded by a dark piano loop layered perfectly over quick hats and a strong, catchy 808 line, Jay Towns dives into topics of loyalty and jealousy among peers. Regardless, he assures the listener that amidst the chaos, he finds a way to have a good time.
The latest in collaborations between Jay Towns and Hannah Lindvall, the "FAKE FRIENDS" music video pairs a high-energy, quick-witted track with visuals reminiscent of mafia favorites such as Goodfellas and The Godfather. Lindvall, whose directing style is heavily influenced by narrative film, was thrilled to take on the challenge of telling this story in a cinematic fashion and delivered it exceptionally. With a large production crew and the largest talent pool either collaborated on a music video set yet, this music video's completion was a well-earned accomplishment for all involved. 3 weekends of shooting and many long editing sessions later, the track debuted in November of 2019 and has since received over 5k listens across streaming platforms.
